Donna Duncan, Certified Watsu Practitioner

The term “Watsu” is made from combining the words: Water and Shiatsu. It is a form of body work that takes the gentle stretches and specific acupressure point work of Zen Shiatsu into the environment of a large, 95 degree, warm water pool. The hydrostatic pressure of submersing the body in water increases both lymphatic and venous return from the limbs, helping to clear metabolites from the muscles tissue, while the receiver floats in a passive state of womb-like bliss. The nurturing quality of Watsu also allows for profound psychological de-stressing as the wave like movements break up chronic holding patterns and interrupt self-perpetuating pain cycles. This is also why Watsu is now very popular in rehabilitation clinics world wide. For a video demonstration you can visit the World Wide Aquatic Body Worker's web sight: www.waba.edu/

Donna studied directly with Harold Dull, (the original creator of this work) at The School of Shiatsu and Massage in Middletown, California and was certified as a Watsu practitioner in October 2000. Currently Donna no longer maintains the pool facilities for appointments in this work but she is occasionally available at off-sight locations.
